BLURB

Ruth Bateman is at her wit’s end. If Bucky’s Beans doesn’t stop spamming her phone with discount codes for frou-frou java concoctions, she’s going to flip. After multiple failed attempts to unsubscribe, Ruth takes to the company’s Facebook page to vent her frustration over the never-ending texts.

When attorney, Henry Mancuso, stumbles upon Ruth’s complaint, he has no idea that a simple Facebook scroll is going to change his life. Now, he has to get Ruth to agree to a class action lawsuit when she’s just looking for some peace on her mobile device—not a drawn-out case against a coffeehouse giant.

As Ruth and Henry battle the legal waters, a friendship full of fun and spontaneity blooms. But could something more be brewing between these two and this coffeehouse case?

Click Date Repeat

The Angel Lady

It’s no secret that Click Date Repeat is loosely based on my own online dating experiences. Loosely. Meaning, the book is a work of fiction with splashes of real life here and there. What people (especially those who know me) wonder most often is which character(s) and situation(s) are based on fact. So I’m here today to reveal a sliver of truth…

Let’s start with this review of Click Date Repeat:

“I wasn’t really enjoying this read to start with, but then the Angel Lady prediction crap pushed me over the edge. She suddenly remembers this clairvoyant she had gone to a while back and so that’s the day all of the predictions start happening? Yeah, ok.” (Goodreads Reviewer)

I laughed out loud when I read this. I know, crazy, right? I mean, she didn’t enjoy the story from the start. So why would I laugh? Because the Angel Lady “crap” is real.

Here are the the Angel Lady’s notes from the reading she gave me over a decade ago. (Blacked out text for privacy.) I was highly skeptical from the time of the reading up until the things she mentioned started happening.

IMG_20170926_115514

A lot of what she said did not get written down, such as predictions about my liver dysfunction and my future husband. But as you can see, she predicted two boys as well as aches and pains in my feet/legs. Today I have two sons, and you can read about the rest of her predictions in Click Date Repeat. Sure, it could all be a coincidence, but there’s more.

The next image shows some notes I took when I had a second phone reading with the Angel Lady in 2007. At the time, my husband and I both had jobs we loved, we owned a home in Milwaukee, and we had no plans to have another child. We also didn’t think we’d move anywhere else until our two little boys were much older, and even if we did, it wouldn’t be far considering most of my family and friends live in the Milwaukee area. So when the Angel Lady told me we weren’t “settled” yet and that a move to the west was in store for us, I thought she was nuts. I even told her we had no plans to move. But guess what? Four years later, my husband was offered a job transfer, and certain undesirable things were happening with my job as a teacher (look up union battles and teacher protests in the state of Wisconsin if you’re interested). So after much deliberation, I resigned from teaching and my husband took the westward job transfer.

As for that third child, we actually decided to try for a pregnancy before my husband was offered the job transfer. For nearly two years I tracked my cycle, and I finally got pregnant in 2010 only to miscarry at eleven weeks. So we figured it wasn’t meant to be, and we were done done. Imagine our surprise when I ended up pregnant with our daughter a couple of weeks after we moved into our new house.

So there you have it. The Angel Lady is real. I didn’t originally plan to include her in Click Date Repeat, but then about halfway through, I remembered her and decided all the “crap” she predicted would be an interesting and somewhat amusing addition to the story. 🙂

Click Date Repeat

These days, finding love online is as commonplace as ordering that coveted sweater. But back in 2003, the whole concept of internet dating was still quite new, with a stigma attached to it that meant those who were willing to test the waters faced a fair amount of skepticism from friends and family.

Such is the case for Chloe Thompson, a restless 20-something tired of the typical dating scene and curious about what she might find inside her parents’ computer. With two serious but failed relationships behind her, Chloe isn’t even entirely sure what she’s looking for. She…

Participate in the LIFT 4 Autism Online Auction!

2017_HeaderVersion

LIFT 4 Autism Online Auction: Monday, April 24 – Friday, April 28

Enter the GIVEAWAY celebrating LIFT!

Autism.

A mystery to some. A way of life for others. A cause for all since it is now the fastest growing and most common disability in the US. 1 in every 68 children are diagnosed with Autism. Many of these kids will rely on their parents to some degree, depending on severity, all their lives, with estimated costs between 5 to 7 million dollars in services and care over their lifetime. Many of the services those living with Autism require are not covered by insurance. It is an expensive and difficult lifelong diagnosis to navigate.

Authors Ginger Scott and Kennedy Ryan started LIFT 4 Autism a few years ago as a charitable initiative rallying the romance reading community in April, which is Autism Awareness/Acceptance month. All proceeds go to this year’s charitable partner Kulture City, who is doing amazing things for Autism families. Discover more about them at kulturecity.org. Specifically, LIFT will benefit Kulture City’s lifeBOKS program, which provides families with free kits to curtail wandering, a common and potentially life threatening challenge. Proceeds will also benefit Kulture City’s tablet program, which provides iPads to improve communication for non and limited verbal children on the spectrum to families who cannot afford them.

Book Reviews

Book Review: The Nine Minutes Series by Beth Flynn

I know nothing about motorcycles or bikers and have never been interested in books about motorcycle clubs/gangs. That’s why it took so long for me to get around to reading Nine Minutes, despite the fact that everyone I know who’s read it has loved it. Plus, I know I shouldn’t, but I do judge books by their covers. So based on the cover (with the motorcycle and the tattooed biker), I assumed I might not love it as much as others did. Well, I stand corrected.

NINE MINUTES IS PHENOMENAL!

I was sucked in from the very first page, and I could not stop thinking about it when other things prevented me from reading. All of the characters are so well developed that they felt real to me, as if the story was a diary about true events. In fact, Beth Flynn did such a great job developing these characters that I actually miss them. And I have absolutely no idea how she did it, but she made me fall in love with a big, burly biker! #TeamGrizz ❤

Immediately after I finished Nine Minutes, I one-clicked Out of Time (The Nine Minutes Trilogy Book 2) and LOVED it. Then immediately after I finished part two, I one-clicked A Gift of Time (The Nine Minutes Trilogy Book 3). Loved that one too. Thanks for the amazing ride, Ms. Flynn!
