It’s no secret that Click Date Repeat is loosely based on my own online dating experiences. Loosely. Meaning, the book is a work of fiction with splashes of real life here and there. What people (especially those who know me) wonder most often is which character(s) and situation(s) are based on fact. So I’m here today to reveal a sliver of truth…
Let’s start with this review of Click Date Repeat:
“I wasn’t really enjoying this read to start with, but then the Angel Lady prediction crap pushed me over the edge. She suddenly remembers this clairvoyant she had gone to a while back and so that’s the day all of the predictions start happening? Yeah, ok.” (Goodreads Reviewer)
I laughed out loud when I read this. I know, crazy, right? I mean, she didn’t enjoy the story from the start. So why would I laugh? Because the Angel Lady “crap” is real.
Here are the the Angel Lady’s notes from the reading she gave me over a decade ago. (Blacked out text for privacy.) I was highly skeptical from the time of the reading up until the things she mentioned started happening.
A lot of what she said did not get written down, such as predictions about my liver dysfunction and my future husband. But as you can see, she predicted two boys as well as aches and pains in my feet/legs. Today I have two sons, and you can read about the rest of her predictions in Click Date Repeat. Sure, it could all be a coincidence, but there’s more.
The next image shows some notes I took when I had a second phone reading with the Angel Lady in 2007. At the time, my husband and I both had jobs we loved, we owned a home in Milwaukee, and we had no plans to have another child. We also didn’t think we’d move anywhere else until our two little boys were much older, and even if we did, it wouldn’t be far considering most of my family and friends live in the Milwaukee area. So when the Angel Lady told me we weren’t “settled” yet and that a move to the west was in store for us, I thought she was nuts. I even told her we had no plans to move. But guess what? Four years later, my husband was offered a job transfer, and certain undesirable things were happening with my job as a teacher (look up union battles and teacher protests in the state of Wisconsin if you’re interested). So after much deliberation, I resigned from teaching and my husband took the westward job transfer.
As for that third child, we actually decided to try for a pregnancy before my husband was offered the job transfer. For nearly two years I tracked my cycle, and I finally got pregnant in 2010 only to miscarry at eleven weeks. So we figured it wasn’t meant to be, and we were done done. Imagine our surprise when I ended up pregnant with our daughter a couple of weeks after we moved into our new house.
So there you have it. The Angel Lady is real. I didn’t originally plan to include her in Click Date Repeat, but then about halfway through, I remembered her and decided all the “crap” she predicted would be an interesting and somewhat amusing addition to the story. 🙂
